Yesterday I went to the small-ish Cars & Coffee in Potomac, MD. It’s the perfect C&C for if you don’t want to wake up at the asscrack of dawn on a weekend to go to Katie’s C&C in Great Falls, VA. My car was near a Porsche 930, a Challenger Demon, an old Jaguar saloon , and an NSX. It did not get much attention.
My friend’s RC-F with a bunch of super fancy suspension bits and straight pipes, a supercharger is coming soon.
Smurf M5.
The Demon draws a crowd.
This dude with the DB11 had a camping chair with its own built-in awning, and a hilariously bad 90s patterned polo. According to my friend with the RC-F, Jay Leno once offered to buy 5 cars off this guy for several millions of dollars and the guy told Jay Leno to fuck off. Supposedly.
This Bronco was super clean.
911 SC with 458 Italia.
Elise, Trackhawk, E63.
Several of the people gathered around the Demon thought it was
interesting
when I pointed out that the yellow thingie on the front lip was actually a shipping cover and had
TO BE REMOVED BY DEALER
markings on it.
This NSX is a proper track car, stripped interior, racing seats, cage, detachable steering wheel, etc. He’s mostly been running it in SCCA A Street Prepared autocross lately.
There were a couple BMW things I didn’t get pictures of. There was a very nice British saving green 2002, and then mid-way through, two guys showed up in E34s, one 540i and one M5. They parked next to each other, one guy guy a baby stroller out of the M5 , they took some pictures of themselves, their cars, and their stroller and didn’t interact much with anyone else.
At the very end after most folks had rolled out and a group of 5 of us were hanging around in the shade near my car (I specifically chose a shady spot) this one dude came burning through in a Nissan Sentra Nismo. He was vaping, wearing a Monster Energy NASCAR jacket/shirt, and fingerless driving gloves. He did an aggressive 7 point turn into a space, got out, and wanted to join our group. He was weird though.

That NSX was at Katie’s earlier that day too.
This week’s show felt huge compared to the last couple of weeks. Surprisingly there were 5 Ford GT including a new one.

It’s all relative...I was at a Hot Rod show a couple months back and there must have been 40-60 Demons and Hellcats. YAAAAAWN. Even the guys at the show with all the custom-built stuff looked down on them as a way to just buy your way into the muscle car world.
But when you see one of them in a sea of other stuff, it’s suddenly interesting.
This looks like some great diversity.

If I ev er see one of those Demon / Hellcats with the protectors on it I will be sure to ask ‘you know those are supposed to come off right?”

nice -
I saw my first DB11 in the wild just yesterday - dark burgundy (and the paint quality was spectacular...) It’s a little bigger than I was picturing it - but not in a bad way. It is definitely better looking in person.

There was a whole row of SRT Grand Cherokee including multiple Trackhawks. I didn’t bother to get a picture of that whole row but a couple made it into the background of these.
The white one that was next to the yellow Elise had its front plate stuck on the inside of the passenger sun visor. I thought that was a pretty slick way to not stick the front plate on it but still technically comply with having a front plate. Maryland is a medium state when it comes to front plate enforcement. Car people often try to run no front plate and many don’t get hassled about it, but it’s a small risk so a lot of them do the front tow hitch mount plate holders, or shove it in the passenger corner of the windshield.
Mine is on a shelf in my garage, and I'm far from the only one.

Both of my cars for the last 20 years were originally MD cars, so the front plate came off as soon as I got them relocated to AL. But so many dealers automatically drill the car (and a lot of cars already have divots for front plates, which is really presumptuous and annoying).
I wish front plate states allowed something more low-key, like a small decal at the top of the windshield or something. As I unders
tand it, the main reason for front plates is for meter maids (etc) to be able to log a vehicle without having to walk around behind it, like if it’s backed into a spot. That’s why front plates are limited to states with higher population densities in cities.
A decal would do just fine in that case.
